Accident - on camera

Heading into Shoreham from Brighton, I detoured off Brighton Road onto New Road to bypass the traffic queuing up to the pedestrian crossing /lights by the footbridge. At the end of New Road there was a white van which had been blocked by a car that turned in a bit wide. White Van Man (WVM) gets annoyed & toots the other car (some cars behind it are reversing to give the car causing the blockage space to reverse). The blockage clears & WVM takes off & turns left down East Street heading back to Brighton Road. I follow.

WVM sees that cars are queueing to get onto Brighton Road & obviously has a shortcut in mind so slams into reverse (you see his lights & can hear the gearbox whine). I Reach for the horn but to no avail - BAM!

I'm OK but (in the dark) the bike has busted front mudguard, busted front brake lever, busted indicator & scratches on exhaust heatshield and bar end plus possible damage to right footpeg...

Getting it recovered in the morning & taken to Worthing Motorcycles for damage assessment.

Have details of the driver so will either settle for cash (he's worried about his NCD & excess) or via Insurance if he doesn't cough up.

Without video evidence might he have claimed I drove into the back of him due to going too fast to stop in the wet? Who knows? He had his mate in the van & there seemed to be an absence of witnesses.

Morning all,

Numpty of the week award to me I think. Lid on seat of bike while I put away phone. Helmet drops to concrete floor and chips a little paint off. Is this a sufficient impact to make the lid unsafe?

My mate and I are having problems when parking our bikes in our road where we live. A certain female driver who lives in the same road insists on parkng as close as she possibly can to our bikes to the point where you can't get on them and is seriously close to knocking one over.The picture attached is an example of what its like.My mate has also on one occasion found his seat covered in brown sauce although we can't prove it was her. My mate tried speaking politely to her but she walked away, he tried again and got told that it wasn't her fault he had small legs, he was facing the wrong way and didn't pay enough road tax. He tried remonstrating with her and she basically told him to f*ck off. what can you do with people like this/ I'm seriously tempted to walk over her bonnet next time or clamp her car. However I don't want a full out war having just bought a new motor it wouldn't put it past her trying to scratch it!
Is there any legal standpoint on inconsiderate parking? police involvement?
solutions anyone?

Fitted taller screen and hand guards whilst doing my 12k service. Also fitted dual injector kit to scot-oiler and found out why the original fitted system failed - who would have thought a plastic pipe would have melted when run straight past an exhuast

Very cheap scooter for sale!

Here's the deal:

when I started to learn to ride I bought me a 125cc scooter secondhand. It worked well until it went "Phuutt" and then it died.
Its a chinese scoot, a YIYING 125, 2005 reg. It turns over but has no spark.
I've replaced the CDI and Ignition coil and also have a kickstand sensor to fit.
Basically it needs someone with a bit of time on their hands to check the electrics, and get the rest of her up to scratch. I need to clear it away hence the price 100 ovno. Please pm or email for pics.

hasn't been used for over 2 years hence cheap price. currently SORNed.

Just saw one of those BLOOD bikers, looked awesome. riding a bike as a job and occasionally blasting through the city with the blues and twos on sounds sweet to me.

So what do you think you need to do to get one of those jobs.

Secondly i actually quite fancy being a bike courier, any idea about that either ?.

Informal Muttley rideout sunday morning?

My Daughter is pestering me to take her on a rideout (pesky kids) so I am up for one sunday morning if anyone is about. It will be a shortish one as I have to be back for sunday lunch.
Plan to start from newmarket, go through C7 to Seaford - Cuckmere - Beachy head.
This is not one for speed freaks - just a nice leisurely drive so 125's, newbies are especially welcome.
Plan to start at 9.30

I completely fail to see what good sending someone to jail for speeding is going to have. He's been banned from driving for 5 years and he voluntarily got rid of his bike, so that's him off the road which is surely what the authorities want. Jailing him is petty, cruel, expensive and uses up cell space a real criminal should occupy.

does restricted licence automatically change when 21?

pretty simple question that i have heard many different answers to.

i did my full test, when under 21, and have a restricted licence.
when i turn 21, does it automatically change, i believe it doesnt although god hopes it does.
if not, i only have to re-do the road ride to get it made to full right ?

bloody winter, when i wear my black tinted visor i feel like a superhero, commuting in the dark has put a stop to this, now i feel like just some mid-thirty something year old guy on a motorbike

the full high viz over jacket will be on from next week also, i may as well just go and chop in the vfr against a deauville and be done with it

weekend breakfast ride anyone, sunday 8th november, we can all pretend it's summer still for just a few hours
